CloudEx Inc. ("we") describes below how the Android app "Speed Test Pro" (the "App") handles information.
1. Information the App handles
- Speed test results (download, upload, ping, jitter, packet loss, data used), the test server's location, your internet provider's name and your public IP address as reported by the test server
- Details of the network you are connected to at the time of a test (type, Wi-Fi name and signal, mobile carrier and network type)
- Wi-Fi networks nearby (names, signal, channels) while you use the Wi-Fi tab, and the room records you save
- If you use the data usage monitor (Premium): the amount of mobile and Wi-Fi data each app used, as counted by Android, and your data plan settings
- App settings
All of this is stored on your device and is never sent to our servers. The App does not ask you to create an account. The App does not record or send your location.
Support emails: only when you email us, from the App or directly. We receive your email address, your message and the details the App adds to it (App version, Android version and device model, and, if you send it from the rating screen, the ratings you chose), and use them only to reply to you. The App never sends an email on its own.
2. The speed test
To measure your connection, the App downloads and uploads test data to Cloudflare's speed test service (speed.cloudflare.com), which automatically picks the data center nearest to you. Like any website you visit, Cloudflare receives your IP address and the test traffic; Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to that service. The App also sends a few ping (ICMP) packets to the test server, or to the host you enter in the Ping test, to measure packet loss. The test data is random and contains nothing from your device.
3. How permissions are used
- Location: Android requires it for any app that scans for Wi-Fi networks or reads the name of the connected Wi-Fi, because nearby networks can reveal where you are. The App uses it only to list networks and never records or sends your location. It is optional.
- Usage access (Premium, optional): to read how much data each app used, as counted by Android. Only amounts of data are read — never the content of what you do.
- Phone (optional): to record whether a test ran on 4G or 5G (and, on Android 9 and earlier, to read mobile data usage). Your phone number and calls are never accessed.
- Notifications: to show the speed meter in the status bar and data plan alerts.
- Display over other apps (optional): to show the floating speed meter.
- Exclusion from battery optimization (optional): so that the speed meter is not stopped.
4. Backups
Your settings and data plan may be included in Android's automatic backup (your Google account). Test results and room records are not. You can also export results as CSV to a location you choose.
5. External services
- Cloudflare's speed test service (see section 2)
- Google Play billing (buying and restoring the one-time Premium unlock), in-app review and in-app updates
- Firebase Crashlytics / Analytics (when enabled): crash reports and anonymous usage may be collected to find and fix problems. They do not include your test results, networks or data usage.
- List of our other apps: the list is downloaded from our server to introduce our other apps.
6. Deleting data
You can delete results with "Delete all results" in the History tab and room records in "Compare rooms", or delete everything by uninstalling the App.
